Alexander PopeEnglish poet |
Nature and nature's laws lay hid in night;
God said 'Let Newton be' and all was light.
How happy is the blameless Vestal`s lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray`r accepted, and each wish resign`d.
Words are like leaves; and where they most abound,
Much fruit of sense beneath is rarely found.
