Of what a strange nature is knowledge! It clings to a mind when it has once seized on it like a lichen on a rock.

I feel my heart glow with an enthusiasm which elevates me to heaven, for nothing contributes so much to tranquillize the mind as a steady purpose - a point on which the soul may fix its intellectual eye.

I am an unfortunate and deserted creature, I look around and I have no relation or friend upon earth.

Live, and be happy, and make others so.
