Death is nothing. I`m not afraid of nothing. But time passing is something different. I`m terrified of time passing. I tremble at the thought of my little girl growing up. I can`t face my son growing stronger than me and helping me up the stairs. I quake at the prospect of looking at my adult children`s faces with eyesight worse than I have now.

Penn Jillette

Everyone wants an exciting life, but most people are afraid to take the bull by the horns. So they take an easy option for an exciting life. They live their excitement through other people.

Paul Arden

All men lie when they are afraid. Some tell many lies, some but a few. Some have only one great lie they tell so often they almost come to believe it... Though some small part of them will always know that it is still a lie, and that will show upon their faces.

We live in a society where people are uncomfortable with not knowing. Children aren`t taught to say "I don`t know," and honesty in this form is rarely modeled for them. They too often see adults avoiding questions and fabricating answers, out of either embarrassment or fear, and this comes at a price. When children are embarrassed by or afraid of the feeling of not knowing, they are preoccupied with escaping their discomfort, rather than being motivated to learn. This robs them of the joy of curiosity. Let`s celebrate the feelings of awe and wonder in our children, as the foundation for all learning. Let`s teach children to say "I don`t know" and help them understand the power behind it. Let`s talk to them about how it feels to not know something. And, finally, let`s be honest with children about the limits of our own knowledge.

Annaka Harris

I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

Nelson Mandela

Don`t be afraid of your past. Learn from it so it can empower your present.

Steve Maraboli

After the sun sets and everyone goes home
I am standing alone in a wide field
Little by little, I can`t see ahead of me because of the darkness
It makes me more and more afraid of being alone but
When I opened my tightly shut eyes at some point
Beautiful stars were shining
Like the images of you, who left far away
As I looked at them, I prayed that you`ll come back to me some day

I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail. There is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark.

Stephen Hawking

We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.

Plato

After I got to know the cold separation, the blooming spring doesn’t come anymore
Cherry blossoms fall like snowflakes, it’s cold here
Sunshine falls like a snowstorm, it’s only cold for me
If I touch anything, it freezes so I’m afraid to hold your hand
Because if you come close to me, your heart might catch a cold too

Epik High

Be not afraid of going slowly; be only afraid of standing still.

You aren`t afraid of throwing yourself in the path of danger, but you`re terrified of letting anyone in.

Richelle Mead
