Quotes about Religion
I wasn`t raised to believe there was a devil or there was hell. I actually think that` s a very sort of abusive thing to inflict on a kid, to make them think that they`re going to go to hell and burn, if they do something wrong. That`s not how I would raise my kid.
Asking, "If there is no God, what is the purpose of life?" is like asking, "If there is no master, whose slave will I be?".
I have no religion, I am what I am, I am a Rastaman, then this is not religion, this is life.
When a religion is good, I conceive it will support itself; and when it does not support itself, and God does not take care to support it so that its professors are obliged to call for help of the civil power, `tis a sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one.
In the history of science, ever since the famous trial of Galileo, it has repeatedly been claimed that scientific truth cannot be reconciled with the religious interpretation of the world. Although I an now convinced that scientific truth is unassailable in its own field, I have never found it possible to dismiss the content of religious thinking as simply part of an outmoded phase in the consciousness of mankind, a part we shall have to give up from now on, Thus in the course of my life I have repeatedly been compelled to ponder on the relationship of these two regions of though, for I have never been able to doubt the reality of that to which they point.

Increase in me that wisdom which discovers my truest interest. Strengthen my resolutions to perform what that wisdom dictates. Accept my kind offices to thy other children as the only return in my power for thy continual favours to me."
If all morality comes from god, what does it mean to believe "god is good"? Wouldn`t that be a tautology? If Satan were to win the final battle (the spoiler says he doesn`t), defeat god, and become the most powerful force in the universe, wouldn`t he be our god? We`d meet the new boss, and he`d be the same as the old boss - good, by definition.
Why is it when we talk to God, we`re praying, but when God talks to us, we`re schizophrenic?
If every trace of any single religion were wiped out and nothing were passed on, it would never be created exactly that way again. There might be some other nonsense in its place, but not that exact nonsense. If all of science were wiped out, it would still be true and someone would find a way to figure it all out again.
