Once basic human needs for food/shelter/health care/education/social justice are fairly well met, people lose their need for religion.
Love? Well, yes. There are so many kinds. There’s eros: simplest and most transient of all. There’s philia: friendship; loyalty. There’s storge: the affection a child gives its parents. There’s thelema: the desire to perform. Then there’s agape: platonic love; for a friend; for a world; love for a stranger you’ve never met; the love of all humanity.
If you`re not reading - with your heart as well as your brain - you will be one stupid grown-up. Even worse, you`ll be missing out on one of the best experiences you can possibly have. Nowhere will you meet more interesting people than in books. I`ve met a lot of people, I`ve read a lot of books, and that`s the absolute truth.
When people don't have to worry about having their basic needs met, they care a lot more about having products and leaders that represent who they are.
I met an old lady once, almost a hundred years old, and she told me, "There are only two questions that human beings have ever fought over, all through history. How much do you love me? And Who`s in charge?"
God made man stronger but not necessarily more intelligent. He gave women intuition and femininity. And, used properly, that combination easily jumbles the brain of any man I`ve ever met.
